Outside Scholarships

Below you’ll find many of the scholarships available to SPU students from outside agencies and organizations. You can browse through all of them, or search using specific keywords.

These scholarships include:

AfterCollege AACN Scholarship

  • Amount: $2,500
  • Available to: Students who are seeking a baccalaureate, master’s or doctoral degree in nursing. Special consideration will be given to students in a graduate program with the goal of becoming a nurse educator; students completing an RN-to-BSN or RN-to-MSN program; and those enrolled in an accelerated program.

Air Force Health Professions Scholarship

  • Available to: US citizens who have been accepted to a graduate program in a health profession.

Asian & Pacific Islander American Scholarship

  • Amount: $2,500-$20,000
  • Available to: Students of Asian and/or Pacific Islander ethnicity who are US citizens or eligible non-citizens. Students must be enrolling as an undergraduate in a college or university in the Fall of 2018 with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.7 or earned a GED. Strong consideration for students who live at or below the poverty level and are the first to attend college in their family.

Ark Law Group Student Voices Scholarship

  • Amount: $1,000
  • Available to: Students who are currently enrolled or accepted for enrollment in a 2-year, 4-year, graduate level or certification program located in the United States.
  • Deadline: November 30, 2017; Next deadlines: March 1st for Spring Quarter; June 1st for Summer Quarter.

Autolist Used Car to Dream Car Scholarship

  • Amount: $1,500
  • Available to: High school students who will be attending an accredited university or college in the next academic year and undergraduate and graduate students. Must be a U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen.

B.Davis Scholarship

  • Amount: $1,000
  • Available to: High school juniors and seniors as well as all students currently registered in any post secondary institution.
  • Deadline: May 22, 2018
  • Instructions: Submit an essay of less than 1000 words: Describe the three characteristics of leadership you value most. Discuss why you believe that these traits are so important and how you feel that they are developed in an individual.

Bellhops Moving Forward Scholarship

  • Amount: $3,000
  • Available to: Students who are currently enrolled or planning to enroll at an accredited undergraduate college or university in 2017. Must be a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
  • Deadline: September 15, 2018
  • Instructions: Submit a 1000-1250 word essay that explains the importance of your major in today’s society. See website for details.

Benjamin Gilman International Scholarship

  • Amount: Varies
  • Available to: U.S. citizen undergraduate students who are receiving Federal Pell Grant funding at a two-year or four-year college or university to participate in study and intern abroad programs worldwide.
  • Deadline: Deadline varies depending on study abroad quarter(s).
  • Instructions: Submit application online.

Cancer Horizons College Scholarship

  • Amount: $1,000
  • Available to: Undergraduate and graduate students who have been diagnosed with cancer (any type). GPA must be at least 3.0.
  • Deadline: February 01, 2018

Canyon Institute Arizona Resident College Scholarship

  • Amount: $2,500 Renewable for up to 4 years if student maintains eligibility criteria.
  • Available to: Arizona residents and graduates of Arizona high schools who are attending Seattle Pacific University.

CareerCrawlers Merit Scholarship

  • Amount: $1,500 varies
  • Available to: Students enrolled in an academic program in either healthcare or engineering related field. Must be at least 18 years old and a U.S. citizen. Minimum GPA must be 3.0.

CellWaves Scholarship

  • Amount: $1,000
  • Available to: Undergraduate students and graduating high school students who are college bound.

Clubs of America Scholarship

  • Amount: $1,000
  • Available to: Any current college student of an accredited U.S. college or university with a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0.
  • Deadline: August 31, 2018; Annual scholarship

College JumpStart Scholarship

  • Amount: $1,000
  • Available to: High school 10th-12th graders planning to attend college or university and undergraduate college students. Must be a U.S. Citizen or legal resident.
  • Deadline: Annual deadlines of April 15 and October 17.

Commaful Annual National Scholarship

  • Amount: $1,000
  • Available to: 3 students who are enrolled at a college or university or graduate school program. Must be U.S. or permanent citizens.
  • Deadline: March 31, 2018

Community Foundation of Southwest WA Scholarships

  • Amount: $1,000-$5,000
  • Available to: Graduating high school students and undergraduates from Clark County, WA.

Continued Learning Scholarhsip

  • Amount: $1,000
  • Available to: Students who are enrolled at a college or university.
  • Deadline: March 01, 2018

Cottage Inn Scholarship

  • Amount: 1st place: $2,500; 2nd place: $1,000; 3rd place: $500
  • Available to: 3 students who are accepted into an accredited college or university. Cumulative GPA must be at least 3.0. Must be a U.S. resident.
  • Deadline: May 31, 2018
  • Instructions: Submit essay on how you would benefit your community if you were the owner of a Cottage Inn franchise.

Crotty Saland Equal Justice Scholarship

  • Amount: $1,000
  • Available to: Undergraduate and graduate students, high school graduates whose college-level studies are just about to begin and GED holders. Must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.
  • Deadline: January 31, 2018
  • Instructions: Submit a 750-word original essay that explains how the student intends to champion the cause of equal access to justice for all, with a specific focus on low-income and underrepresented individuals.

Davidson Fellows Scholarship

  • Amount: $10,000- $50,000
  • Available to: Students age 18 or younger as of Oct. 1, 2018. Be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
  • Deadline: February 08, 2018

Design Your Future Scholarship

  • Amount: $2,500
  • Available to: Graduating high school seniors, undergraduates, and graduate students of underrepresented or disadvantaged backgrounds. Students from all majors are encouraged to apply, but preference will be given to applicants pursuing design and engineering-related fields. Minimum GPA must be 2.0.
  • Deadline: January 01, 2018; Next deadline is on June 30th, 2018.
  • Instructions: Submit a 500 word essay designing their ideal future and what the student plans to do in order to achieve that dream. See website for details.

Dietspotlight Scholarship

  • Amount: 1st Place: $3,000; 3 additional winners: $1,000 each.
  • Available to: Undergraduate and graduate students.
  • Deadline: December 31, 2017; Varies

Dream Home Design Scholarship

  • Amount: $2,000
  • Available to: Full-time students over the age of 18 enrolled in an accredited US college or university.
  • Deadline: August 15, 2018; Annually

Einstein Academic Scholarship

  • Amount: $1,000
  • Available to: High school students entering college or current college students. Must have at least a 3.5 cumulative GPA.
  • Deadline: December 01, 2017; Annual deadline.
  • Instructions: Submit 500-1000 word essay relating to academic achievement. See website for details.

ElectricityMatch Scholarship

  • Amount: $1,000
  • Available to: High school seniors or full time enrolled current college students. Must be U.S. citizens or Eligible non-citizens. Cumulative GPA must be at least 2.75.

Eligible to Learn Scholarship

  • Amount: $1,250
  • Available to: Students with a physical disability as defined under the American’s with Disabilities Act (ADA), enrolled or planning to enroll in college or university by Spring 2018. Must be a permanent U.S. resident.
  • Deadline: December 31, 2017
  • Instructions: Submit a 500-1000 word essay on "How has your physical disability positively affected the pursuit of your academic or professional goals?" See website for details.

Elks Most Valuable Student Scholarship

  • Amount: $1,000-$12,500
  • Available to: Current high school seniors who are US citizens.
  • Deadline: November 27, 2017; Next application cycle begins September 1, 2017.

EtailPro Entrepreneur Scholarship

  • Amount: 1st place: $2,000; 2nd place: $1,000; 3rd place: $1,000
  • Available to: High school graduates planning on attending college or university and undergraduate students.

Experiential Leader Scholarship

  • Amount: $1000
  • Available to: Full time or part time students during the 2018-19 academic year.

Financial Freedom Scholarship

  • Amount: $1,000
  • Available to: Students who are enrolled full-time at an accredited college or university.
  • Deadline: January 01, 2018

Floyd Hunter Scholarship

  • Amount: $1,000
  • Available to: Undergraduate students who are attending an accredited college or university anywhere in the United States
  • Deadline: May 15, 2018

Ford Foundation Fellowships

  • Amount: One year stipends ranging from $25,000 to $45,000.
  • Available to: Predoctoral, dissertation, and postdoctoral fellows committed to a career in teaching and research at the college or university level. Must be US citizens or eligible non-citizen.

Franchise Opportunities Scholarship

  • Amount: $2,000
  • Available to: Current college freshmen, sophomore, or junior between ages 17-24.
  • Deadline: July 31, 2018

Frank Cazmierczak Memorial Scholarship

  • Amount: $1,000
  • Available to: Migrant workers or children of migrant workers wanting to pursue a teaching career.
  • Deadline: Annual deadline of February 1.

Glen Lerner Gives Back Community Service Scholarship

  • Amount: $1,000
  • Available to: Undergraduates and graduate students and high school graduates or GED holders who plan on enrolling in college. Must have a minimum GPA of 3.0.

GoodShop Art Scholarship

  • Amount: $500-$1,000
  • Available to: Students interested in art.
  • Deadline: December 31, 2017
  • Instructions: Create a visual piece that answers, demonstrates, or elaborates on one of the two prompts listed on website.

GoServe Leadership Scholarship

  • Amount: $1,500
  • Available to: Must be a current college student or prospective college student (currently applying). Must serve locally, nationally, or globally.
  • Deadline: December 01, 2017
  • Instructions: Photo or short video submission showcasing your service experience & online application.

Hamilton, Hull & Byrd Giving Back Scholarship

  • Amount: $1,000
  • Available to: This scholarship is offered to any student currently enrolled in an accredited community college, undergraduate, or graduate program in the United States. Students who are incoming first-year college students who are high school graduates or possess a GED can also apply.

Heart Disease Scholarship

  • Amount: $1,000
  • Available to: Undergraduate and graduate students diagnosed with heart disease or a congenital heart defect. Must maintain at least a 3.0 GPA.

Herrman and Herrman Innovation Scholarship

  • Amount: 1st place: $2,500; 2nd place: $1,500; 3rd place: $1,000
  • Available to: High school juniors and seniors, and students currently enrolled in 2-year or 4-year colleges or universities in the United States.
  • Deadline: December 01, 2017
  • Instructions: Submit 600+ essay on the topic of: What kind of effects do you believe we will face as self-driving cars become more prominent on the roads?

Houzz Scholarships

  • Amount: $2,500
  • Available to: Undergraduate and graduate students 18 years of age or older majoring in interior design, architecture, landscape architecture, and architectural engineering.
  • Deadline: December 15, 2017

Interior Design & Architecture Scholarship

  • Amount: $2,500
  • Available to: Undergraduate and graduate students majoring in a design-related field (examples: architecture, interior design, landscape design/architecture, furniture making, industrial design, engineering, etc.). Cumulative GPA must be at least 3.0.
  • Deadline: January 01, 2018; Second deadline on June 30th, 2018.
  • Instructions: Submit a 500 word essay describing their career goals and future design aspirations and 2 portfolio designs.

Rising Stars: Interior Design & Architecture Scholarship

  • Amount: $2,500
  • Available to: Undergraduate and graduate students majoring in a design-related field (ex: architecture, interior design, landscape design/architecture, furniture making, industrial design, engineering, etc.) and demonstrate an interest in pursuing a design-related career.
  • Deadline: January 01, 2018; Next deadline is June 30th, 2018.

Jeffrey Lichtman Criminal Justice Reform Scholarship

  • Amount: $1,000
  • Available to: High school graduating seniors and college students who are passionate about criminal justice reform. Must have a minimum GPA of 3.0.

Key Thinkers Scholarship

  • Amount: $2,500
  • Available to: Students who are 18 years or older, a US citizen or Permanent Resident, enrolled full-time at an accredited college, university, or trade school, and cumulative GPA of at least 3.0.
  • Deadline: Fall quarter: September 30th, Winter quarter: December 31st, Spring quarter: March 31st, Summer quarter: June 30th.

Leadership 1000 Scholarship

  • Amount: $1,500-$5,000
  • Available to: Washington state residents who plan to enroll full time as a college freshman, sophomore or junior in fall 2018. Must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75 and plan to file or have already filed a FAFSA. Must demonstrate financial need.
  • Deadline: February 28, 2018

LeadQuizzes Entrepreneur Scholarship

  • Amount: $1,000
  • Available to: Students enrolled full time at an accredited high school, college or university.

LendEDU Scholarship

  • Amount: $1,000
  • Available to: Two high school senior or full-time college students with a minimum GPA of 2.5. Must be a U.S. citizen.

Mary Mahoney Professional Nurses Organization (MMPNO) Scholarship

  • Amount: $2,000-$3,000
  • Available to: Students of African heritage who are presently enrolled in degree-granting programs that lead to licensing as registered nurses and other professional credentials. Must be Washington residents.
  • Deadline: December 15, 2017

MedSchoolCoach Scholarship Program

  • Amount: $1,000
  • Available to: Undergraduate, graduate and incoming medical students with a minimum GPA of 2.5.
  • Deadline: April 15, 2018

Meldon Law College Scholarship

  • Amount: $1,000
  • Available to: Students who are currently enrolled in or planning to attend an accredited United States college or university during the 2017-2018 academic year.
  • Deadline: January 20, 2018
  • Instructions: Submit 500 word essay answering the question: What are alternative prevention methods states can take to reduce crashes and injuries among young drivers?

MetroWest Health Foundation Scholarship

  • Amount: $2,000
  • Available to: Students who are accepted into an eligible nursing, medical, or clinical program. Must be residents within the MetroWest service area.

Microsoft Tuition Scholarship

  • Amount: Varies
  • Available to: Students with at least a 3.0 GPA with an interest in computer science, computer engineering, or a related STEM degree.

Military Scholarship Essay Contest for Military Personnel, Veterans, and Spouses

  • Amount: $1,000
  • Available to: Applicants must be military active duty, honorably discharged, veteran, or a spouse from any branch of the military.

MoHundred Scholarship

  • Amount: $10,000
  • Available to: 10 African-American high school seniors or college freshmen or sophomores who will be full-time enrolled each quarter. Must be a Washington state resident and complete the FAFSA or WASFA application. Must have a high school or college GPA of at least 2.50.
  • Deadline: February 28, 2018
  • Instructions: Submit transcripts, FAFSA, and letter of recommendation. See website for details.

Much Games Research Grant

  • Amount: $1,500 Spring and Fall
  • Available to: Undergraduate and graduate students.
  • Deadline: March 30, 2018
  • Instructions: Submit a 750-1,500 word research proposal outlining how your experiment or study will further the understanding of the biological, social and psychological consequences of video game addiction.

Mulberrys Garment Care for Aspiring Entrepreneurs

  • Amount: $1,000
  • Available to: Graduating high school seniors or a freshman, sophomore, or junior in college ages 16-22.
  • Deadline: December 08, 2017
  • Instructions: Submit 600 word or less essay about a business idea that you have and how you plan to make it a reality.

Munley Law Scholarship

  • Amount: $5,000
  • Available to: Undergraduate and graduate students 18 years or older. Must be a legal US resident.

My Best Hosting Review Scholarship

  • Amount: $3,000
  • Available to: Undergraduate and graduate students enrolled full-time. Must be U.S. citizens. GPA must be 3.0 or higher.

MyBioSource Scholarship

  • Amount: $1,000
  • Available to: 10 high school seniors, undergraduates, graduates as well as international students. 5 scholarships award for STEM majors and 5 for all other majors.

National Debt Relief Scholarship

  • Amount: $1,000
  • Available to: 5 graduating high school seniors, undergraduate or graduate students pursuing a degree in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math). Must have a minimum GPA of 3.0.

Neighborhood Involvement Scholarship

Office of Hawaiian Affairs Scholarships

  • Amount: Varies by program
  • Available to: Students of Hawaiian ancestry.

Pelican Water Systems Scholarship

  • Amount: $500–$1,500
  • Available to: Must be legal U.S. residents, must be currently enrolled full-time at an accredited university in the US, 3.5 cummulative GPA or higher.

Price Benowitz Social Justice Scholarship

  • Amount: $1,500
  • Available to: Student who are currently enrolled in an accredited community college, undergraduate, or graduate program in the United States. Incoming first-year college students who are high school graduates or possess a GED. Must have an interest in social justice and cumulative GPA must be 3.0 or above.
  • Deadline: April 30, 2018
  • Instructions: Submit 750-word essay responding to the following prompt: What are some significant challenges people with disabilities encounter on a regular basis? What are some practicable public policies that could address these challenges?

Pride Foundation LGBTQ Scholarship- 50 scholarships available

  • Amount: $2,500-$12,000
  • Available to: 100 high school seniors who are planning on attending college or university and undergraduate and graduate students. Must be Washington state resident.

Rotary Foundation Global Scholarship Grants for Development

RPI Consultants Scholarship

  • Amount: $1,000
  • Available to: Students who are enrolled in a college or university.

Sargent Injury Climate Justice Scholarship

  • Amount: $1,000
  • Available to: Students who demonstrate their commitment to environmental conservation and the various ways they have displayed that commitment in their daily lives.
