Early Connections 2019

SPU students walk in downtown Seattle during the 2018 Early Connections downtown excursion

If you are an ethnically diverse student who attended a diverse high school or are the first in your family to attend a four-year university, Early Connections Orientation may be for you.

Early Connections Orientation

Early Connections Orientation is a two-day orientation that starts one day before Seattle Pacific University’s New Student Orientation. It’s a great opportunity to move-in a day before new student orientation begins, meet new friends, participate in fun activities, and establish a family of support from day one. It’s especially beneficial for incoming students who:

  • Are from culturally diverse backgrounds and identities.
  • Will be a first-generation college student.
  • Were part of an AVID, College Bound, TRIO or similar college-readiness program.

Ongoing Early Connections

Early Connections doesn’t end after orientation. EC hosts quarterly events throughout the year that promote community, information and resource sharing, and leadership development such as EC family dinners, movie nights, study abroad panels, financial and academic support workshops, and more!

Even if you didn’t attend EC Orientation, you can join Early Connections at any time by stopping by the Multi-Ethnic Programs office located on the second floor of the Student Union building or by contacting Serena Manzo (serenamanzo@spu.edu).

“I knew I had a support system right off the bat. A lot of people care and are willing to invest in you!”
