Cynthia Cooper is a West Coast local, having lived in Washington, Oregon and California, but now considers the Northwest to be her home. She attended Azusa Pacific University for her undergraduate education, majoring in Interpersonal and Organization Communications. During her time in undergraduate school, she had to opportunity to study abroad both in South Africa and London, giving her a wide range of experience and a deep love for travel. She recommends everyone take the opportunity to study abroad as it is truly a life changing experience.
Graduating in 2012, she moved back to the Northwest and began her career in the University system, specifically at Portland State University Housing & Residence Life. After graduating with her masters from Portland State in Higher Education Administration & Leadership in 2016, she decided she wanted to move out of Residence life and focus on a different aspect of student development. Cynthia came to SPU in the summer of 2016, as the Student Employment Coordinator. She facilitated all hiring for on-campus and work study positions and managed the budget for SPU’s Federal and State work study programs.
Cynthia has a passion for students and believes that education serves as a strong foundation for reaching future goals and strives to do her part to help students develop their strengths and build on their confidence. In January 2018 she began her position at the Center for Career and Calling as the Assistant Director, and is thankful to have the chance to live out her passion for student & career development daily!
