Education: BSN, University of Nebraska, 1975; MN, University of Washington, 1980. At SPU since 1982.
Jan Petersen has been involved with SPU and the Lydia Green Nursing Program intermittently for more than 30 years. As a master’s-prepared Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP), she taught as regular faculty in SPU’s innovative RN to BSN FNP program the 1982–83 academic year. Over subsequent years, she has taught both theory and clinical practicum for both junior- and senior-level nursing courses.
Her professional experience ranges broadly, including in-patient intensive care, community clinics, student health clinics, and international service, as well as working with various public health and environmental exposure research projects. This eclecticism reflects a conscious decision to place a higher priority on family needs and relationships than on career advancement.
