Data Analytics (MAM-DA)

Business Intelligence and Data Analytics
The Business Intelligence & Data Analytics emphasis in the MA in Management program at Seattle Pacific University provides you with the skills and knowledge necessary to excel as a professional in the business intelligence and data analytics field.

The MAM-DA program enhances your past academic work and professional experience, preparing you to become more effective in current responsibilities or to open opportunities for new responsibilities.

Who Should Pursue This Degree

If you are interested in data analytics, and if you have a minimum of one year’s work experience after receiving your bachelor’s degree, SPU’s MA in Management with an emphasis in Business Intelligence & Data Analytics (MAM-DA) is designed for you.

It is intended for data analytics oriented professionals who recognize the need to develop and expand knowledge and expertise in analytics, especially those seeking to enter the analytics field.

SPU’s School of Business, Government, and Economics is committed to providing an applied, experiential, and collaborative learning environment that integrates business competence and Christian character. As a student in the MAM-DA program, you learn to do the following:

  • Provide values-based leadership to the management of business intelligence and data analytics in organizations.
  • Evaluate the effects of data analytics on organizations and personnel, with the specific aim of providing meaningful and creative work; respecting the dignity of persons; and acting with justice and integrity in relationships.
  • Apply in-depth knowledge of business intelligence & data analytics issues to real-world problems.
  • Communicate effectively, work in teams, use information technology, and self-assess personal abilities, strengths, and weaknesses.

“Another Way of Doing Business”

The MAM-DA program at SPU is built on an ethical foundation that offers a first-class business education through the lens of Christian faith and values. Among other things, you will take at least two ethics classes. And you will see that your professors integrate ethical issues throughout the curriculum.

The School of Business, Government, and Economics also operates the Center for Integrity in Business and publishes Ethix journal.

A Flexible Format

The MA program is responsive to the needs of working professionals, and courses are offered in the evenings to accommodate your work schedule. We're committed to keeping red tape, bureaucracy, and forms to a minimum. Classes are smaller, allowing you to get involved with your professors (no TAs) and fellow students in a cooperative and reciprocal learning environment. You can also personalize your degree through self-designed coursework to incorporate your real-time experience into program electives.

Mentor Program

To enhance your MA experience, we offer a Mentor Program that gives you access to more than 900 business people and professionals from a variety of companies, industries, roles, and levels of experience.

Mentors are available to meet with you one-on-one, as sources of information about their companies and as network resources for future contacts. You may participate with one mentor for one quarter or multiple mentors over multiple quarters.

Career Services

We offer a robust suite of career and professional development opportunities including career counseling, job-search coaching, résumé development, workshops and seminars, networking events, and mentoring through SBGE Career Services.
